360 vs PSP

Post by noiseredux »

I don't really pay much attention to either, but it seems to me that XBox360 and PSP are the two most shmup-heavy consoles currently. I sold my PSP before I got into shmups. But it seems both of these consoles have a lot of shmups to offer, including many (region free?) imports. So for those of you in the know... who's winning?

The PSP has some great shmup collections, and if you include all the PS1 shmups, it's a great platform for the STG genre. Especially as the console is entirely region-free

Although the 360 is much stronger when it comes to new and unique shooters (however, many aren't region-free);

Id say PSP. To keep with what you like, portables right?, it just makes sense. Anyway both are not region free but the PSP is hackible for those imports and homebrews.

I sold my 360 about a year and a half ago to raise the funds for a PSP. I haven't looked back.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

yeah I had a PSP for a while. I liked it. I don't really plan to buy either any time soon. But I do like to keep up on which systems have games I'd like.

I had a psp years ago shortly after release. I sold it because honestly I was bored of it.

The 360 library is bigger and better. Most PSP shmups are collections of games available on other consoles. While the D-Pad is solid, a 360 and an arcade stick is better.

I enjoy shumps on both the PSP and the Xbox 360 but would go with the Xbox 360 since I like using an arcade stick and it has a great selection of games. I'm really excited now with Radiant Silvergun coming early next year. :D
