HD TV with a VGA Input?

Post by scottykick »

I'm finally going to step up to an HD TV, but would like to know if anyone has any hands on knowledge of one with a VGA input as well as HDMI, so that a PS3, Wii & Dreamcast could be hooked up. Something in the 42" - 46" range.

Thanks

I don't have a TV at the size you're wanting, but both of the Vizio TVs I bought have HDMI inputs and VGA.

Same here...my vizio has both but it is a 37" model. I also have a 32" LG with both.

It seems like a pretty common setup unless you go with a really cheap set.

I have a 32" Dynex with VGA and HDMI. Seems like a pretty common thing these days. If it is on an "off brand" Best Buy TV shouldn't be too hard to find one that had both in your size range.

I can't say how well the VGA works with smaller outputs (like the Dreamcast) I've only used it with my laptop (before I got a DVI cable) which outputs 1366x768.

What exactly do you want to know? You just looking for a recommendation?

Any decent HDTV you're gonna buy, in that size, should have more than one HDMI. If it doesn't have a VGA than it'll have a DVI or both along with a 1/8" stereo jack and/or RCA red and white audio inputs for it. I'll straight up judge a TV by it's inputs. I figure if they're too cheap to put a good number of inputs, or do that shit were two video inputs will share one audio input, then I don't what to know how cheap they were building the rest of the TV. At least, that's how I see it.

Most tvs in that size range will have at least 3 HDMI inputs and a VGA. VGA inputs are even available at small sizes. My nearly three year old 26" tv has one.

Take the Dreamcast and VGA adaptor into the store and test it on the floor model. A lot of HDs don't support the lower res 640x480 resolution. Another concern is S-Video pretty uncommon on most newer HDs.

Panasonic G10 plasma in 42-46 inches would be a good buy. Offers one of the least amount of input lag on a flat panel ive seen.

Panasonic and Sony do.
But be sure to test it out as my sony had problems with updating the screen.
I tried Zero Gunner 2 and the stuttering was obvious.
USE A 60 FPS game for testing!
