Is it possible to mod PSP 3000? or have a good PDF reader

Post by deathclaw »

Hi, I have a PSP 3000 with FW 6.20. I have a softmod there (HBL - HalfByteLoader) and everytime I want to use a homebrew app, I have to use the Patapon 2 demo exploit to use it, which is really bothersome.

It wouldn't be - but I use my PSP as an ebook reader and the app I am using is Bookr. This is awesome for plain *.txt files, but it freezes with many PDF files, so every time it freezes, I have to reboot the PSP, start Patapon 2 demo, and use the exploit...It would way more convenient to have a hardmod, without having to use this exploit after every single boot.

Or another alternative would be to have a GOOD *.PDF reader. I tried to convert my books into several formats, even split it into really low sizes, but it just keep freezing on some particular pages.

Thank you for any good advice.

I believe you're out of luck in terms of a hard mod solution for your PSP 3000. I'm in a similar situation with my PSP 2000 with a TA-88v3 mobo. I'm using the firmware 5.03 exploit which sounds slightly better than HBL but if I hard shutdown my PSP I have to run the exploit again. The problem you are having with Bookr is most likely attributed to the limitations of the HBL exploit.

There is a youtube video of someone using Bookr on HBL with PDF files, check it out and make sure you are running the same version of HBL and Bookr that he is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtLkR6B1kII

Thanks a lot, in that video, there was a version of Bookr that finally works perfect on my PSP.
