Recommendations for Xbox (1) platformers?

Post by Luftikus »

I know, there are better consoles for this genre than the old Xbox, but maybe someone has some nice recommendations.

I already played Voodoo Vince, which is in my opinion absolutely fantastic and Psychonauts.

I like platformers with a cartoony style, so please don’t recommend any Prince of Persia games, etc.

Has someone played Tork? It is an US only release, so I could not get a chance to get a hand on it, but it looks fantastic.

I-Ninja is also a US only release. Somebody played that?

I use to have it, fun and entertaining game. Don't remember many details though, has been a long time since I played it.

Conker is mandatory of course, unless you've played it on the 64 already. Rayman 3 is also quite good, though not quite as good as Rayman 2. I played a bit of Battle for Bikini Bottom too, and it was surprisingly good. Some clever level design, it got a bit collectingy for my tastes though. YMMV.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, perhaps? A neat little platformer with a childish feel to it, but pretty fun overall.

In my opinion, you've played the 2 best platform games on the system; Psychonauts and Voodoo Vince.
Whiplash, Dr.Muto, Vexx, and Blinx are all platformers that haven't been mentioned and are worth a try. And of course there are the LEGO Star Wars games as well - I'm personally not a fan, but there's no denying their popularity.

Oddly... I-Ninja ended up Xbox/GC/PS2 in US, PS2/PC in PAL. Whatever they were thinking.

I guess YMMV to Sonic Heroes. Has its moments.
Lum fan.

If you can wait another week or two; Super Meat Boy.

Edit - Just realized you want original XBox, my bad.

I Ninja was a lot of fun, you could also try Vexx. I enjoyed it and it has to be pretty cheap.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I played any platformers on Xbox.
