anyone happen to know where the heck i can find an old xbox component cable? Id like to use one for my 2nd xbox on the older CRT but i just cant find them. The one i have for my main xbox is kinda weird looking but its the official one. Its actually a box that you plug your own cables into with a nub for optical audio. Im not sure if thats the model they used the whole time or if they changed it later
Searching on ebay is no real good since it brings back tons of irrelevant searches. I did find a couple a while back but they were like 40 bucks! I want the official microsoft one, since those are usually great quality. I tried using a generic one off ebay and the luminance was quite a bit off. Right now im using one of those universal ones i got at gamestop but its quality isn't that great either. My ps2 games actually look better =P (im using a ps3 component cable on the ps2)
so anyone have the slightest idea where i could find one of these things?

This is the brand of component cable I have and been using for the past couple years.

never had a problem with it and it looks great on my 46" Sony.
EDIT,
I see you mention that you'll be using it on a CRT. Haven't tried it on anything other than my LCD. But I shouldn't foresee any problem on a CRT either.

On Ebay and Amazon, search for "xbox high definition pack" & "xbox hd pack". I just bought one for $12 over the weekend.

Ive got an interesting 3rd party Xbox adapter. Its got VGA and a couple of other hookups that I cant remember at the moment. I got them from a guy on here.
I too also have the component "box" hookup for the xbox so I know what you mean.

Re: old xbox component cables?
You need the Xbox "HD A/V Pack", which is a breakout box that the cables hook up to. If you don't have a male to male component cable set, you'll need one to hook it up. You can also hook up an optical cable if you have one. Make sure you don't get the Xbox "Advanced A/V Pack". That breakout box only includes composite and s-video plugs. These A/V boxes were official Microsoft accessories.
The other important thing to note is that some third party cables (both component and composite) that plug directly into the Xbox might not work depending on what version Xbox you have. There are three different video chips (Conexant, Focus & Xcalibur), and they do not all work with third party cables. They do work with the official Microsoft A/V boxes though. I used to mod at least 3 of these things a day, and ended up just ditching the third party cables all together because of the annoyance of finding a cable set that was compatible.
