And by that I mean having someone do it for me haha.
Something like this:

I have not finished but have started. The hard work is done, getting the board to fit and getting the slot wide enough for the MVS cart. Fortunatelt I was able to do this to the slot without making it look homemade ect.
I thought I'd track my progress in a thread here:
OK, so I might be able to get some original AES parts, maybe not. I'm moving forward as if I can't to be sure this project gets done.
reset switch:
controller ports:
OK, restored the shell. No more scratches or scuffs ect. This came out PERFECT, was amazed at how clean it looks now. You can't even notice that I cut the cart slot. Used some bondo on the cart slot also then sanded it. This vinyl die works wonders. I used the same stuff when making my stick.
I was happy I could save some of the logos also, the other wording on the system was to scuffed up to save. the dust doors stand out for some reason in the pic but don't in person.
Getting closer and closer.... got the power switch installed and anchored. The only things I have left really are the power and AV jack on the back and that will be easy.
I'm gonna have to have the universal bios installed then I can finish up with the wiring. I have a small bit of work to finish on the controller ports but that has to wait till I'm mounting the board in. Also a small power LED. Then it's done and ready to play!!
OK, got the controller ports finished up and the PCB is mounted, well until I send it off for the unibios.
I added a few pics for the power switch again and a short vid.
Click pic below for vid...
So close.....
All I really have left is to solder on the controller ports to the board, then the power. Screw the board onto the shell and screw it all shut.
One of the screw bezels is busted but I can fix that.... it's close to being done. I wired up the AV port tonight and it works fine. It's only RGB right now but that's what I use. It's in stereo also.
OK... so all I have left is to wire the controller ports and power jack to the mobo and it's done!! I have the controller jacks wired up... I just have to attach the wires from them to the mobo.
DONE!!!! happy it's over with.
when I took these pics I hadn't put the black plastic inside the memory card holder.... it's an open slot in the pics but isn't now.
the cam's ok... it was just to dark for the setting I had it on and was to late and lazy to fuck with it.
Wait what? You have an AES want to pay MVS games? Why not get a converter? This guy had a MVS and a shell from an AES. If your AES works, I wouldn't gut it.
Yeah, I figured that much, but that converter's expensive as hell, and I saw the guy in this thread get a consolized MVS for only $255 (and apparently could've gotten it for $175):
Plus I've been hearing about scaling issues with converters, and I've been getting kinda turned off to the idea of it. But if I'm gonna get an MVS, I'd like it's shell to be that of an AES.

I'd think that the cost of the MVS hardware and mod fees would be pretty high and possibly rival the cost of a convertor. Maybe I'm wrong as I don't know NG hardware.
Cost for a consolization is more than an MVS to AES converter, if you already have an AES.
MVS board ~$75 video encoder ~$50-$100 depending if you want S-Video or Component Unibios ~$30 Power supply ~$20 misc parts ~$20-35 depending if you want some sort of acrylic bottom or something, though if you want an AES shell be prepared on spending $40-$50 for it labor ~$ varies on who does it. maybe $50~$100
Hm, gotcha. I don't have an AES yet, actually. But if I bought one for around $150 and had it modded with the works, would that cost less than buying a consolized MVS? Where's a good place to find those anyway? They're too expensive on neotropolis and scarce on ebay.
well, honestly, I'm not sure it can even be done, and if it could, it would probably just be a built-in converter. honestly though, i'm not too into neo-geo, love the games though.
the thing about AES stuff is that the games are expensive as hell for the real good ones. In the long run, if you're just looking to play, I'd say to get the MVS board and get it consolized, or find one, probably on NG.com. the system might be more expensive, but you'll save enough on the games to balance it out and then some. (and then some more)
I just keep my MVS 4 slot Neo Geo the way it is (unconsolized) I might put unibios in it. But I would rather keep it the way it is. If you got deep pockets and really like the look of a AES, don't let us stop you getting what you want. Have you tried looking in your area for an old MVS? You never know what you might find.
Yeah I'm thinking of just getting a consolized MVS. I'm not sure where to find a regular MVS where I am now, but I guess I should order the parts. Is there someone I can contact who either offers pre-made ones at a reasonable price (not neotropolis lol), or who I can send the parts to to put it together?
