Deptarting the Forums

Post by Zork »

I believe the time has come for me to take my leave from the forums here.

I'm sure a few select people will be wondering "Why the hell is he even bothering to tell us this garbage"

Well, some people may wonder why a person just up and left, I'm at least leaving an explination for those who think about it.

Over my time spent here I've found that my gaming sensibilities and opinions differ quite a bit with the members here, to point to where I can't really relate to anyone. The only common ground I really share with anybody here is that I like 2D Fighting games better than 3D and I like older Sonic games (Even though I liked the Adventure ones) thats it. So I'm simply going to bow out.

A few topics recently have especially opened my eyes to evidence of this truth. It seems like a lot of you are being the "Jaded Gamer" type just for fun, fitting the stereotype of "Retro Gaming Jock" to the point where you alienate anything that isn't old school or won't even really give something a chance. Of course it may just be your opinion and not bias or anything. But whatever. I had some fun here, maybe some of you will lighten up eventually.

Take it easy.

Makes for good times.

I believe I talk about modern stuff twice as much as I talk about old stuff.

I play more on my Gamecube and DS than anything else right now.
But I can talk about those things anywhere (including here).
But I think most people come here to talk about stuff that they can't easily elsewhere.
It isn't that we are retro snobs or anything.
But at the same time, I personally don't want the forum overrun with Grand Theft Auto and God of War talk.

If you want to start a thread on a topic of your choice, you're free to do it.

Isn't this what the "Sony/Microsoft" forums for? I mean neither of them have a retro system.

dude this forum is preeeeeetty easygoing compared to some that are out there.

i think YOU need to sack up.

okay i'm really kidding, but i do think that your post is a bit of an overreaction. i like some games, you like others, that's what makes the world go round. it's like that song, ebony and ivory, you know? paul's all like "we all know that people are the same/wherever we go.." and stevie comes in blind mashing the keys sayin like "there's good and bad in everyone, it's what we need to survive, something something"

ooooh ooh ebony and ivory... living together in... perfect harmony...

ooooooooooooooooooohhhh

I don't think he is trying to start anything... he is just explaining that he is leaving and decided to drop a reason.

but eh, it is kinda weird he had to leave a reason anyways... whatever.

Too bad you didn't stick around to post now and then to diversify the community. I post and lurk all over the web so I come and leave all the time. No one asked you to sign a contract.

Well, he does have a point. I don't know that I entirely agree, but I can understand how he might feel that way. I usually vent many frustrations against newer games, but it's usually just that I'm not willing to pay $200+ for a game system and $50+ for a game, period, and it's easy to denigrate an entire generation when I know I refuse to spend the money to be a part of it. Truth be told, there's a lot on the Wii and the Xbox 360 to love (I give the PS3 no credit because it's a farking bad idea), but the price is never going to come down, and I'm just as happy with my older, cheaper games.

Fun is fun. I don't think never games are any more fun. They're just different fun. More expensive fun. And for me, if I'm perfectly happy with older, cheaper fun, why bother?

I'm a retrogamer rather than an everything gamer because being retro is cheaper. That and I really DO have a fondness for 2D. That's my soft spot...
