Some Important Folks Share Their Favorite PS2 Games

Post by the7k »

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/10/ ... ps2-games/

A bunch of different developers and members of the press talk about their Top 3 favorite PS2 games.

I never cared to much for David Jaffe, but seeing as he listed Way of the Samurai - and seems to feel about the same way about it as I do - I guess I have to throw some respect his way. I gotta admit, I'm a bit surprised to see how many people love Katamari Damacy as well: Schafer is a given, but Dude Huge? Never would have guessed.

A lot of ICO/SOTC in there. Glad to see the GT series got its due props.

So what they really meant was Guitar Freaks, right? And I don't even like that genre of game.

Yeah, I blanched at those Hobie-wan, though in Tim Price's case I'd argue that "kick-starting" does not necessarily imply the start of the genre. However I would point out DDR to him.

Several of those I rolled my eyes while reading, but some of them (such as Jaffe's statement regarding Way of the Samurai) felt poignant and interesting. We don't always consider the developer's view of games, so it's good to see their side from time to time, especially when they have a very broad perspective of the titles being released in their given medium.

I'll say it - The never ending game series that killed the PS2.
There are sooo many guitar controllers at the local thrift store, really.

Good that a lot of developers are observant of ICO.

The irony is that GH contains disclaimers that say "Konami" in them. Guess why...

Killed the ps2? Nah. Ps2 was already displaced by current gen consoles by the time it got REALLY bad.

It's always interesting to see what games other developers have enjoyed outside of their own. Awesome that Ico and Katamari are getting lots of praise!! :D
