I just bought this switch modded Saturn the other day. I want to add a mod chip to play cd-r's but I'm not sure where to put it, or what to do with the switch. Any ideas?

the mod chip plugs into where the ribbon cable is plugged, right in front of the big blue box part of the switch.
looks like it'll be a tight fit, and more of a pain in the ass then usual to get the chip in place.
but you might be able to do it...
good luck.
EDIT: upon second review of the close-up pic, it doesn't look good.
maybe make another hole & move the switch a bit?
it just looks like it protrudes over where you need to plug the chip in a little too much...
thats what I wanted to know, whether I would need to move the switch or not. Which, of course I don't want to do, because I don't want a hole in the side of the Saturn.
So the best idea is to cut the wires from the switch, solder new wire to them and move the switch say to the back?
*sigh* Yet another system modded with a huge ugly tumor of a paddle switch hanging off the side.
You might be able to carefully bend the contacts upward so they're a little flatter and make enough room to slide a mod chip next to it. Just use needle nose pliers, be very careful, and add some electrical tape and/or some plastic between each row and also between it and the chip.

I second that, then again, isn't the PCB for the chip rather flexible? Why not cover the contacts for the switch with electrical tape and try to jimmy the chip in?
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
Dumb (and late) suggestion, but why not make the hole on the side of your Saturn case bigger? This way you can move the "tumor" portion of the switch outside more.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis. Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
The pcb board is flexible enough, but I had to take the switch off first, insert the modchip then reinsert the switch. Some electrical tape between the two, and it works perfectly. No need to patch games.
