What systems are VGA friendly? I kinda don't have a TV in my room at the moment, and was curious.
Currently have Dreamcast, and 360 (which RROD' on me last week).
VGA friendly Systems
Re: VGA friendly Systems
I remember hearing a lot about being able to hook up a PS2 to a PC monitor (via VGA). I'll see if I can find more information for you.
EDIT: Here's one that can support all three of the last-generation systems (can probably work on the Wii).

Re: VGA friendly Systems
I know my 360 supports vga, hdmi, etc etc. Dreamcast has been good about it. I've heard some pretty bad things about the VGA converters for PS2 though. What i'm most interested in is native VGA support.
Re: VGA friendly Systems
If you're looking for native only...the oldest would be the DC.
BROTIP: There's really no good way to hook a PS2 up via VGA. It's possible via a shitty cord that looks awful or an expensive XRGB box that will look as good or slightly worse than a component cord.
Sadly, there are only a handful of games that are vga friendly..and booting to vga from the system requires a bootdisc.

Re: VGA friendly Systems
Good thread. I also don't have a TV in my room, as there is no space. I have my PC and monitor and use my 360, PS2 and N64 on the monitor. 360 I use through the official VGA cable, but the PS2 and N64 (and any other console with the red yellow and white cables) I put through a convertor box. I use a Gadmei XGA box. The picture isn't the clearest but I think it's because I use a HD monitor, as when I ran my Gamecube through my HD TV (before I sold it lol) it was quite blurry due to Gamecube's being designed for normal tvs. So it's no different to that in picture quality, and is perfectly playable. But if you have a small monitor, you may have to sit close, as I have been playing Beyond Good & Evil and I have to sit fairly close as it uses a futuristic font for text in game. But yeah, it's definitely worth getting although does require a lot of wire changing between consoles! And it comes with a cool remote

Re: VGA friendly Systems
Most of the really good games on Dreamcast and Gamecube are VGA friendly. I haven't found any titles from Sega that didn't work, even if they weren't marked for it on the packaging. Any Gamecube game that has the "progressive scan" emblem on it should work, which includes all first-party and second-party games AFAIK.
Re: VGA friendly Systems
The Dreamcast is House of the Dead killer graphics with a lightgun hooked up to a CRT VGA monitor. The PS2 can also go VGA with the Xploder adaptor, not bad if you stick with 640x480 mode. Other consoles can be converted with the right adaptor.gennss wrote:What systems are VGA friendly? I kinda don't have a TV in my room at the moment, and was curious.

GSZX1337 posted a link to a cable you can buy. Otherwise, you have to cannibalize a Gamecube component cable. I haven't done the mod myself, but my brother did, and it looked beautiful.
