Re: SNES vs SuperFamicom
I don't have a problem with the US SNES like most people do, but I think the Japanese/EU design looks better. I think the concave/convex buttons should have been used but kept the 4 colors on the buttons though.

NTSC. Sure, it may be boxier, but something about the purple sliders just feels right.
Then again, the Famicom was blessed with Terranigma and Seiken Densetsu 3..

To be honest, I think I like the look of the US SNES more. I guess because it's the one I grew up with, even though I played a Super Famicom before the SNES was released.
There was a contest in Nintendo Power in either 1991 or 1992 were you could win an SNES (one of their monthly contests). In the contest promo photo, there was an SNES enclosed in a large block of ice (well, ice looking plastic). It looked awesome to me, and that's the visual I get whenever I think of the SNES.

I prefer the SFC both console and carts (though I dislike the lack of end labels on the carts).
Also, worth nothing the pal SNES (Called SNES) has the same design as the Super Famicom, so the title is a bit off.

I do agree with you on the button colors, the color buttons do look rad.

Snes looks lamer reasons: purple color is not great on snes ntsc, gameboy color, and gamecube. The Sega Genesis model is one favorite well made consoles, great detail. Eject button seemed lousy. I prefer the Japanese super famicom console and controller. One day I will purchase the Snes console when I find the great games for it instead of too many sports games.

Re: SNES vs SuperFamicom
Its funny, way back when the SNES was still fresh and new it was like a mystical high tech machine. Today I can't help but look at it like a cheap simple chunk of light plastic. Now don't get me wrong, I love the the SNES and the games released for it are some of gamings greatest. It just feels light and cheap feeling. I guess it was built well though, because functioning PS3 & 360s in 20 years will be rarer than Nintendo World Champion Carts. That being said, the SNES holds a very nostalgic place in my heart and wins in the looks dept. The SNES looks like something a kid would play with. The SFC looks like a adult machine and when I'm playing Mario and Zelda being a adult is the last thing I want to feel or be reminded of.

Same here, well, I didn't grow up with it, per se, but my neighbors had one, and I played it quite a bit, I only had a NES from ages 1-7 or so, when I got a GC, so I thought it was pretty darn cool at the time.

I have to agree, the SNES is built like a tank. I took mine apart a couple weeks back for cleaning and to get some of the yellow tint out and man that thing was sturdy inside. There were screws everywhere holding each little piece tightly secured to a piece of tough plastic. They obviously built it for little kids who would throw it around. That said, I like the look of the Super Famicom better. Seems a bit sleeker and more streamlined plus we always want what we can't have (cheaply).
