Using cheats on Jnes - Final Fantasy

I have been playing the original Final Fantasy on Jnes. I need to use some cheats, I selected the ones I wanted, saved my game, reset the emulator, continued my game as usual, and the cheats didn't work. I wanted to double Black Mage's damage, but the cheat didn't work.

Could anyone help me out :D ?

Edit:
I also selected infinte MP

Cheats are rather simple on JNES. Just go to Cheating, and enable the cheats you want for it.
