What Game System Had The Best Launch?

Ok, it's Friday and I'm bored.

Which video game system (console, handheld, add-on) do you think had the best/strongest launch?

Myself, I'd probably say the Dreamcast in the U.S. Just because I remember being at Best Buy on Launch Day 09-09-99 and seeing everyone crowded around a DC kiosk watching NFL 2K and people commenting with excitement "Man, that looks almost real!" and "Dude, I'm so getting one of these!" Also, there was a very good selection of games right at launch - like Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, and House of the Dead 2.

I'm just curious, was that the first time that people really did that for a game system? Because it seems like people do it all the time now. They even do it when a new Madden comes out

Playstation 2 had people camping overnight for the thing it was ridiculous...

And it turns out a lot of people had disc read errors. Sucked for those who waited for hours to get a system and then get home and can't play a game.

I like the GameCube's launch line-up. Luigi's Mansion and SW Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II would be enough to keep you busy for a while.

The Dreamcast wasn't that bad either. Sonic Adventure and Power Stone?! That's a winning combination!

For me it's the Dreamcast. Probably the only console launch I ever got really excited about. I picked up Sonic Adventure with it. It didn't dissapoint. It was a great console.

I thought Sonic Adventure was awesome back then. I still think it's a good game now but I was just blown away by Sonic in 3D back then and I actually liked the cheesy vocal tracks they had in the game

The PS2 launch was pretty crazy. I remember my friend had to do some under-the-table bartering with a Target employee and paid more than the retail price so that he would have his on day one.
