Panasonic 3DO as a cd player...

We've all heard about the Playstaion SCPH-1001 used as a superior cd player.. Has anyone checked out or read anything with regarding the quality of the 3DO as a cd player? I can't tell myself as I lack a controller and the damn thing doesnt autoplay, but a rather weak assumption on my part is that a system that retailed at $599 must have some good components in it.

Don't waste the limited lifetime of your 3DOs disk drive on CD audio. Just pick up a CD player that has SPDIF out and all that matters is the quality of your receiver and speakers.

I actually remember doing a side by side comparison on PS1 and 3DO. My ears are a lot better trained now then back then but I do remember a noticeable difference on the 3DO, it sounded a little fuller than the PS1. But like Hatta said, I wouldn't use it as a stand alone player due to wear and tear on that baby. It is a cool experiment though.
