i recently purchase AC adapter online and just got it yesterday. So then coming home excited to power and play secret of mana, I noticed that red light on the console nor the picture showed up. So then i retry to plug it in a different sockets around my room. Unfortunately no matter what socket or how many times i try to re-plug the ac adapter in to make sure its firm...did not work.
So i check the female part on the Snes and noticed that around the circle there was about 1/4 of the circle has a metal piece ... kinda old rusty looking on it. But from the looks of it i doubt it would disrupt the connection from the AC adapter plug.
So im kinda clueless and i hope its not the system that is broken because i paid a decent amt due to the fact that it had no coloring. So please can anybody help me.
Just in case be sure of the volts and amps. Also maybe clean that corrosion with a scotchbrite pad. For inside the SNES, some contact cleaner and unplug and plug the cable a few times. be sure its not plugged into the wall.
Wait till dry before plugging back into the wall socket.
Does anybody here have a pic of a close up of the inside port of the Snes suppose to look like. So i can compare with the power port on back of my Snes. THanks
Do you have a voltage meter or "multi" meter? I would first test the power adapter to make sure it's good since that's easy enough to do. If it reads some where around 10v than you know it's good and can rule that out as a problem.
If it's not the power adapter, it could just be a blown fuse inside the SNES.
Very important, apparently the SNES holds a decent amount of power after it's unplugged. So when ever you're gonna do anything to it, turn the power ON after you unplug it to draw out the power.
No i havent check it out, but i bought this from respectible site and would be just appalling that they would sell u something that doesnt work. But i will try that out and let you know if it does work. From what i researched online most said even if the power supply is dead or not connected they said the red light on the console does turn on for little before going out.
And i have try to power mine on several times and no red light has shown and went away.

If you don't have a multimeter as suggested, at the very least plug the pack into the wall and leave it for a few minutes and check if it is warming up. If it doesn't get warm then it might be a dud.

If the plug is completely dead then you won't get a light either.
