Rail-Shooters
The following games are Rail-Shooters in the same style as games like Space Harrier, Panzer Dragoon, or Sin & Punishment. In these games you control a character that you can move around on-screen to dodge enemy projectiles. Or in some games, like Rez, you control only a targeting reticule only but you still have your character on-screen.
I'm trying to focus on games that got a home console/handheld release so not all games will make it.

Light-Gun Rail-Shooters
This section focuses on Light-Gun Rail-Shooters, much like the House of the Dead series. In these games you have a first-person perspective and use a light-gun controller to shoot enemies. The game guides you automatically throughout the levels as if you're riding "on-rails", hence the term.
This list focuses on games that got home console releases.
LIST
House of the Dead- Saturn
House of the Dead 2- DC, XBox, Wii
House of the Dead 3- XBox, Wii
House of the Dead: Overkill- Wii
Typing of the Dead, The- DC (Okay, you don't really shoot zombies with a light gun but I'll count it. It's basically HotD 2 but with typing.)

Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack- Wii
Point Blank- DS
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles- Wii
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles- Wii

Re: Other Rail Shooters like Sin & Punishment/Panzer series?
I'm assuming you already know about Starfox and Starfox 64. I'd be surprised if you didn't, but if so....well, now you know.
I consider these three series the big three of rail shooters:
Panzer Dragoon, Sin&Punishment and Starfox

Whoops. Post edited.

Re: Other Rail Shooters like Sin & Punishment/Panzer series?
Couldn't you move around the screen in Rez? I've only played the game once, and that was years ago, so I don't really remember.
And there's always Rainbow Cotton.

Panzer Dragoon Zwei is the best panzer dragoon game imo.
I personally liked the SNES Starfox even though a lot of other folks didn't.

I haven't played it in a while but I thought you could only move your targeting reticle in Rez?
Not that it matters too much but I guess I'll count it.
And which Cotton? The first one?
Re: Other Rail Shooters like Sin & Punishment/Panzer series?
Like I said, it's been a while since I played. You might be right.
There a couple of Cotton games from that perspective.

Yeah, it's been a while since I've played Rez but I remember the game revolved around you defending yourself by shooting down everything that came your way. So I don't think you could move around the screen
I was just thinking of Panarama when Ack mentioned Rainbow and he beat me to it with the links. It's all good though

I heard some pretty good things about Zwei. It'll probably be one of the first ones I'll check out.
