What will Nintendo Do After Wii?

Post by shwisha »

So we know Nintendo isn't all about pushing the graphical envolop... they haven't really done this since the N64. Gamepay and price point has definitely been there focus. Now that Xbox and PS3 has their own motion controllers, I wonder what Nintendo is planning next.

What do you think the next Nintendo system will be?

Probably a system that at least partially bridges the current technology gap. Hopefully they'll finally get a decent online system. I think that backwards compatibility will remain a priority - but motion controls will become a legacy component.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The Gamecube was quite a powerhouse graphically. The Xbox beat it out in that department, sure, but it completely demolished the ps2 in terms of power.

But yeah, Wii HD. Calling it.

I think they are forced to bring a new innovation to market.

The novelty of the motion control is over, people are not that excited any more , and both 360 and ps3 got it.

as for casual gaming, I am not really sure what the Wii can do that ps3/360 can't .

As for low prices, the ps3 is no longer $600 and the wii at $250 . Price diminished , and more people today own HDTV's and they want HD quality , and a bluray player.

So whats left for nintendo?
I don't know

either they jump in head to head against ps3/360 like back in the day , or create some kind of new technology that is only on Nintendo's console. If they bring a Wii 2 , that is HD , I think they are shooting themselves in the head, because by they time its out it will be probably 2012. What it can do was done by the 360 back in 2005.

Thats like saying "The gamcube will be able to give you Neo-Geo Graphics!" , It was done 7 years ago.

I am not really sure what they will do, maybe go back to milk their Nintendo fans .

I hope they go back to using cartridges again. Is it possible to create the Wii's current graphics on a cart? It seems plausible if you look at what the 3DS can do.

I'm assuming a new version of Nintendo Wii with both 3D and HD support.

Yeah they could do anything on a cart. It just depends on the hardware. All a cart really was is a way to store the game data. The problem with carts is they are expensive compared to CDs and usually can't hold nearly as much data as a CD.

Actually from everything I've seen the Gamecube was at the top in terms of graphical capability last gen. It lost to the Xbox mostly thanks to all the concessions devs had to make in relation to the comparatively halved storage space on the discs and the lack of a hard drive to stream textures and more off of like the Xbox had as well.

Not gonna happen.

Single layer DVD at 4.5GB's: .3cents to manufacture

Carts of a comparable size on ultra expensive MASK ROM chips: $20-$30 or more.
