I recently downloaded TF2 on Steam (thank god for half price sales), however when I click play it crashes. (After "Preparing to launch Team Fortress 2.").
Can anyone help me?

Also are you running a firewall that might be blocking it? You can also try deleting local content and installing it again.

2ghz Processor, 3gb DDR2 ram, 250gb hard drive, NVidia GeForce 9300m gs 256 mb graphics card.
I'm fairly sure I have DirectX, but I don't know how to check.
I have added it to a list of firewall exceptions.
I have already reinstalled the game twice.
Still nothing.

Does that mean you ran the test? Does your processor support SSE or not?

Re: Need help installing Team Fortress 2.
It DOES support SSE.
I reinstalled drivers, updated and installed software, restarted my computer several times, changed DEP settings, defragged, set launch options and verified the integrity of my game cache.
I'm lost in an endless loop on the Steam Users' Forums now.

Re: Need help installing Team Fortress 2.
Delete your client.blob (found in the Steam directory) and then run Steam. It should update. Hopefully that fixes your issue.

Re: Need help installing Team Fortress 2.
Unfortunately not. (Assuming you meant ClientRegistry.blob)
Steam updated but the game still won't run.

All sorted, though it slows down every few minutes.
Thanks for the help.
