Well, I got Free MCboot up and running in my PS2, but i have some problems when trying to burn and backup games. I need help burning CD-based games so they can be patched with ESR patcher. From what i understand, it will patch DVD-based ISOs, but not CD-based ISOs. Does anyone know of a way to get CD-based ISOs
I also need help with HDL Dumb. I can't get it to connect with the ps2 via Ethernet. It keeps giving me the "no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused" message. I even tried psychically connecting the HDD to my PC via IDE cable and power plug, but when i do that, neither the PC or HDL Dump will detect the HDD, and after being connected for a few minutes, the computer completely locks up and freezes.
PS2 Backup dilemma
Re: PS2 Backup dilemma
Use WinHIIP_V1.7.6
remember to change the jumper for the HDD to slave when connected to the PC and back to master when connected to the PS2

Re: PS2 Backup dilemma
For cD based games you need to add a dummy file, use google, not too hard to find how-to's.

You need to convert to a DVD ISO and it may require to add a dummy file however not all CD based games can be converted to DVD.emwearz wrote:For cD based games you need to add a dummy file, use google, not too hard to find how-to's.

Re: PS2 Backup dilemma
Given how cheap these games are these days (£1 at car boot sales) why bother with "backups" off the net?

Yeah, crap/ultra-common/non-complete/scratched games you could probably get for a quid. For better/rarer stuff you gotta pay a lot or download~bacteria wrote:Given how cheap these games are these days (£1 at car boot sales) why bother with "backups" off the net?

Re: PS2 Backup dilemma
As said above, use WinHIIP to access your PS2-formatted HDD through a computer. It works with IDE-to-USB converters as well, which is how I run mine. With this method it's easier to run (compatible) games off the HDD than to burn them in an ESR format.
Try Open PS2 Loader for your HDD games, though you will need to read on how to compile the latest version because the last "official" release (.7) is wildly out of date. The newer builds surpass HDLoader in compatibility, although information on compatibility settings is pretty sketchy since the project is still in development.

Re: PS2 Backup dilemma
I bought a IDE to USB adapter, and it looks like the PC can't read the HDD at all. Is there any way to re-format the PS2 HDD? I've looked around online, but can't find anything on re-formating it.

Correct. Once the drive is formatted for the PS2, a PC won't see it except with Winhiip or HDLDumblildeemo wrote:if u have already formatted the hard drive in the ps2 the pc will only show the hard drive using i belive winhiip
