any reason to get into the psone?

Post by mas »

Hi everyone,
I just picked up a psone with the screen a memory card and 5 games like tekken 3 and mobile light force for 6 dollars at the flea market. Since i am mostly buying for dreamcast and gamecube, should i get into the psone or just put it up on ebay? I'm not a fan of the rpg's so the final fantasy series dont mean anything and the 2d fighters i have on the dreamcast and the resident evil series also. So any reason why i should keep this? Please give me your thoughts thanks

Very good price. PSOne a great compact console for the long vacation road trips.

Some ideas here:

Jeez for $6 including a screen, I'd have picked it up myself and starting going through this list:

You're asking for reasons to keep a system that had one of the most varied game lineups of all time? I can't think of a reason to not have a ps1.

Crash Bandicoot, R-Types, Rayman (a great port of it too) and Megaman X4, X5, etc... The PS1 is an incredible little system.

I never owned too many games for my psone but I can highly recommend the original Silent Hill. Sure, the controls are clunky and the graphics are very primitive but the overall experience is incredibly eerie and very enjoyable. If you're into horror games, you'll love it.

Honestly the graphics are pretty badass for a ps1 game. At least I think so.

But yes, as they say on here, can't really go wrong with a ps1, excellent library. Though if you ask me you could do just a little better and simply get a ps2. Fully backwards compatible, you'd have the best of both worlds

Considering that the playstation was a console of transition, a lot of its library is garbage. The 2D games are still perfectly playable but a lot of the 3D games suffer from: terrible controls, gameplay, and graphics. Sure there are a bunch of gems that are fantastic and by their virtue justify ownership of the system, but as far as collecting goes the system seems its not worth it. I feel this way about the n64 too.

I'd say sell it and focus on your gamecube and dreamcast collection. Playstations are really cheap anyways and it would be easy to purchase another one if you decide you want one again.

Says it all. :)

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Man I have been looking for a cheap PSOne for a little while. I mean really cheap because I have absolutely no money. $6 though! I am so jealous. I really just want to be able to play Thrasher! I am not really into skateboarding (I am a surfer), but I played this game for hours and hours. I also wouldn't mind giving the RE games a playthrough. So, if anyone has a PSOne, controller, all cables, and those two games that they'd like to sell me for $6, including S&H (I know, I would have thought that ridiculous, but then I read this thread) let me know!
