Playing Pikin wii version
Playing Pikin wii version
Ive had this game on the shelf for about 6 months waiting for the right time to try it. And after playing for about an hour, I think i might like it. I do not like the timer, it doesn't quite give me enough time to do what i want, I have to be quick about what parts for the ship I am looking for in order to get that "board" done. Interesting game though.

I love Pikmin. A lot of people don't like the timer although it personally doesn't bother me. It gives me a sense of impending doom - like I have to work efficiently to find the ship parts or Olimar will perish.
The sequel took away the time-limit, although I didn't like it as much. I didn't really like the underground segments that seemed to make up most of the game. The above ground parts of the game always looked far more appealing to my eye.

I felt like if there was no timer, then Pikmin would be a super-relaxing game. I'd like it better that way.

There's nothing relaxing about having horrendous creatures and bugs pop out of the ground without warning and start eating your little guys - timer or not!

Bastard creatures ate my pikmin made me mad! LOL
Re: Playing Pikin wii version
I absolutely love Pikmin. It was one of my favourite games on the Gamecube when I first bought one. I bought one again a month or two back, and I've yet to pick up either Pikmin games yet (actually I've never played the 2nd one, I wonder what it's like). The only reason why I haven't got Pikmin yet though is because my brother bought the Wii version too, so I've been playing that. It works really well with the Wiimote. I'll eventually get both Pikmins for my Gamecube though.
Also, I agree with Incognito D. I didn't mind the timer, it was a large part of what made the game for me. It was hard though and did make you feel like you were being rushed at times, but it does add that feelinng of impending doom.

Re: Playing Pikin wii version
I just wish there was a way to disable the timer. I enjoyed the game for what it was on the Cube - havent played it on the Wii yet, but I thought after I beat it I should be able to disable the timer and just have fun goofing off. I mean my army of red pikmin made short work of most everything in the game...
Re: Playing Pikin wii version
So what version do you enjoy better, Wii or GC?
I don't know which one to buy.

Re: Playing Pikin wii version
Well, do you enjoy waving a Wiimote around? It's the same game on both. You see, I'd personally go for the Gamecube version because it's cheaper and I'm much more of a "control pad" player. The Wii isn't something that really appeals to me much.Gnashvar wrote:So what version do you enjoy better, Wii or GC?

However, if you enjoy your Wii and like the control system, then go for that if you want. It does work very well on the Wii. Moving the Wiimote around to control the pikmin is a bit like using a mouse in a real time strategy game.
Hope that helps a bit.
Edit: Also just read that the Wii version has a "new save feature". No idea what that means though, I can't remember what the save system was like on the Gamecube version.

Re: Playing Pikin wii version
I was wondering because in my area the Wii version is cheaper since many people "now" consider the GameCube version collectable.
Thanks everyone...
