Good N64 Japanese Imports?

Post by Opa Opa »

I plan on getting another N64 and I'll probably do the mod where you can play Japanese games. I know I want to get Sin & Punishment but are there any other good Japanese imports? I'd prefer games that don't require being fluent in Japanese :D .
Thanks.

While we're on this topic, did pokemon stadium 1 (the first one released in japan but not the US) have a kid's club or any other sort of mini-gaming?

Obvious, but Sin and Punishment. I don't think the N64 is really bustling with great imports. I believe the arcade version of Bomberman 64 was only released in Japan.

Virtual Pro Wrestling 2.

It's basically an advanced version of Wrestlemania 2000 without the WWF license.

Custom Robo. That game is awesome, and the language barrier isn't that bad.

The sequel, Custom Robo V2, is also pretty easy to get into. And if you're interested in fighting games, there's a few that never made it to our shores:

Rakuga Kids - Great little 2D fighter about kids doodling with magic crayons and then having their creations duke it out. There's also a PAL release if you want it in English.

Super Robot Spirits - If you're a fan of mech games, this Japan-only fighting game might interest you. It's part of the Super Robot Wars series, so if you're really hardcore into anime mech games, you'd probably enjoy this. According to Famitsu, it didn't sell very well though.

Shindou Super Mario 64
This Japan-only, limited edition of Super Mario 64 is most notable for its Rumble Pak compatibility and inclusion of speech from the U.S. version. Some frame rate problems from the original Japanese version of the game have also been cleaned up, making it even more polished than the Western versions. Other minor variations particular to Shindou Super Mario 64 include newly designed package artwork, a unique cartridge label and slight graphical enhancements.

The japanese version of Bomberman 64 looks like a really top version of it.
