PS2 controllers on PS3 when playing PS2?

Post by Satoshi_Matrix »

Is there any way to use PS2 controllers when playing PS2 or PS1 games on a 60 GB EE PS3?

I have a number of old fighting sticks that I want to use, but you need to press the PS home button when the games boot up. Since the PS2 controllers lack that, is there any way around this?

I've got X-Arcade PS2-to-PS3 controller converters, and they work fine regardless of the controller. You just press Up+Select simultaneously to activate the Home function.

Sony has an official PS2 -> PS3 converter. I've tried some similar adapters (ones that I use with ePSXe in fact) and for some reason, the button configuration gets screwy. Shoulder buttons will switch, X becomes Square, etc. If the game you're playing allows button mapping, it'll be fine.

No need for an official one. I just used a generic PS2 controller to USB adaptor and it worked fine. It was one I bought a looooong time before the PS3 came out. Everything including rumble worked on it.

Do you know the name of it, I have three and they all had the screwy button configuration.

I've been using this: http://www.xgaming.com/store/x-arcade-a ... 3-adapter/

Order it the $15 option without the X-Arcade PS2 Adapter (the X-Arcade PS2 Adapter is just for the X-Arcade controllers, so you don't need it for your purposes) and you can use standard controllers. It's never messed up the button config for me. The

No idea, it's just a generic one I picked up for cheap in Game (the equivalent of EB in the states).
