I'm halfway through building my frame thanks to the instruction provided by Donovan Meyers and Im getting to the point of planning out my control stick and ordering parts.
The cabinet will house a PS3 but I want to use it as a full fledged PS3 cabinet with access to every button/stick that the PS3 controller has. I realize that arcade sticks are generally not this complicated and crowded but I would really like to have a stick that could play any PS3 game with full access to the control scheme. I've attached a quick draft of my initial layout idea but Im hoping to get some opinions on it or how to make it better while adhering to the 14 'button' scheme.

Re: Help with control layout for my viewlix-style cabinet
The digital pad with action buttons above location might be cumbersome for fighting games. Maybe locate left analog and digital joystick to the left? Buttons in middle and right analog on the right? Player start button to the front. Scrutinize the buttons. remember X and O are the common ones, should be closest.
Biggest headache will be getting the right potentiometers hooked up for analog sticks.
I modded a Zaxxon Arcade controller to PSX digital only. Double the buttons for right and left hand players. For novelty, I included a coin return button as the select button, player 1-2 buttons became the start button.

Re: Help with control layout for my viewlix-style cabinet
Playing a dual analog game with two arcade sticks is more work than its worth (atleast in my opinion).
I say get those madcatz sticks that have a switch to be dpad or either stick, gut them, and use them as the base with a switch mounted by the start button. The last thing you want to do to a cab like a viewlix is over complicated the control panel.
I just know with your purposed layout, I would endup hitting the other stick and dpad more than I should.
