Should I buy an Xbox 360?

Post by MrEco »

I currently have a PS3 and my birthday is coming up soon. I'm wondering if I should either A) Buy an Xbox 360 or B) Skip the 360 and just buy games and stuff.

The thing is if I don't buy a 360 I'll have roughly $300 left to buy more games and some books/DVD's. While at the same time the 360 looks like it has some really amazing games (Mass Effect, Tales of Vesperia, etc...). I mean I'm definitely not gonna be getting a Live Gold account anytime soon but even so it has plenty of great looking single-player exclusives.

So any advice?

Well. If you have the money. The 360s 250gb hd model is 300 dollars. The 360 s 4gb internal memory is 200 dollars. If you find yourself wanting to play the games alot then get it. Or you could spend the money on a bunch of old games... Pick the last option.

Eh I'd wait until its cheaper. Just use the money on feeding your PS3 or getting some other cool stuff.

I was planning to get an Xbox 360 myself, but I ended up putting that money towards a Gaming PC instead. With a Gaming PC and a PS3, there's only a few games I'm missing out on, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find them after its gone out of style.

If I did get a 360, I know I'd definitely get Dead Rising, Earth Defense Force 2017, Death Smiles and maybe Alan Wake. Castle Crashers would have been another to add to that list, but it'll eventually come to the PS3. Aside from those and a few XBLA Indie Games, not much that I'd be very interested in.

Well if you don't have a Wii yet, I suggest picking that up first... Xbox 360 is almost the exact same system as the PS3 plus you have to pay the play online... The Wii may have some casual games, but you can't deny their first party games, they are some of the best in the business.. Plus, you don't have to worry about YLOD or RROD with the Wii and it's 100 bucks less..

I own a Wii already. And I don't want to insult you or anyone who likes the Wii but personally it's the biggest waste of money I've spent in a long time.

Buy other games then IMO... Xbox 360 is basically another PS3... Unless you're a Halo or Gears of War fanboy, no reason to buy it... Too many good retro systems out there imo.. And yeah I think the Wii is overrated myself, but I think it's still unique in its own right and is a better investment than a 360..

In total agreement with this. Other than a handful of exclusives, the ps3 and 360 are identical and you are better off spending your money somewhere else. Wii, PC, retro. Anywhere. I have both systems and my ps3 collects dust. Not because it isn't a great machine, but after i played uncharted and killzone i was kinda... done for now. 360 will be the same thing for you.

Just get a 360 Elite. They're pretty cheap now and the new slim offers nothing over the elite aside from a glossy finish (eugh) and the Kinect port (which nobody is going to buy anyway so it's not really that much of a plus).
