acessing Daikatana game assets

Post by nate »

hey all...I was wanting to dig into the guts of Daikatana to see all the skins and player/monster models. considering making a paper craft from them.

I got the tools on this site,
http://charles.hollemeersch.net/node/41
some work but a little buggy, but the main file converter to convert models to quake 2 MD2 format isn't working at all on my comp. (XP) it just blinks away instantly.

the process I was going to try is, after converting models to Q2 format I was going to import to Milkshape, edit the model (as little as possible) so it would make sense as a paper model, export to a paper model app and then print.

I'm just doing this cause I'm a big fan of Kenneth Scott, who did all the skinning for Daikatana, Quake 3 and of course Doom 3...he's now with Microsoft and working on the Halo franchise I guess.

anyway...I'm not doing too well getting at the files. I have a model viewer, but it won't load the skins. anyone have some helpful tips ? I was thinking of putting the tools and some models on a thumb drive and trying it on a computer at work, maybe the converter app would work on a different computer ?

I'm not really shure if the skin files are stored with the models in the same file or if they are all kept as separate files in the pak2 folders...

thanks for any help :)
Ocelot, did it again...sorry Boss !
