In April 2009, it was reported that Sony Pictures would adapt Shadow of the Colossus into a film. Kevin Misher, producer of The Scorpion King, The Interpreter and the upcoming Dune film, is negotiating to produce. The script is being written by Justin Marks, who wrote Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.[89] It was revealed that Fumito Ueda, the game's creator, will be involved in the film's production.

I'm not sure what to think about this, hopefully they do it justice. Such a great game I catch myself thinking about every now and then. I'm waiting for Sony to remaster it and ICO for the PS3 that will be coming out next year, will be awesome!

it doesn't take much to realize that this will be awful

I thought that one of the big draws of SotC was the way it used gaming effectively as a storytelling medium. A flim version would kind of miss the point by miles.

That's a pretty shitty line up of talent. I can think of two people who could pull this off. Guillermo del Toro and Asif Kapadia

Just thinking of their work on Pan's Labyrinthe and The Warrior, respectively

EDIT:Pan's Labyrinthe features gorgeous fantasy inspired settings, creatures and visuals. The Warrior was a mostly silent movie emphasizing communication to the audience with as little words as possible. It was also a bit of a spiritual flick.

Now put those elements together and I think you have something that could work for shadow of the colossus with its quiet, lonely world and protaganist and beautiful fantasy world
