list of working mame roms?

I've dl'd about 10 roms in a row now and all did not work. I do have 32 working ones but is this just a hit or miss thing? There must be a list of the games that work so I don't spend all this time dl'ing games that don't even work.

Mame roms have to be matched with the version of MAME you're using. Google a bit and you can find a fullset, grab the appropriate version of MAME and you're good to go.

don't forget about various bios roms (such as neo-geo) that are required for many games to work

Correct checksum matched to a version of Mame is one area to watch. The other is make sure you get the master Rom to support all the variants, say GALAXIAJ.ZIP and GALAXB.ZIP needs GALAXIAN.ZIP. Reason why is all the clone zips just have the variances, not the entire Rom dump.

Mame tells you which one is the Master Rom in the Menu directory.

ok cool, I'm running MAME OSX on my mac and I audit all the games I DL and the ones tht work show up on my Good list. I'll look for the full sets and see what happens.

Just to point out some of the clones are worth getting.

GALAPX.ZIP which is a clone under Master Rom GALAXIAN.ZIP, is a hacked fast shoot version.

Could anyone send me a link of where they got most of their roms from? I just got set of Fatal Fury 3 and Samurai Showdown and nothing is working

I am currently just using Emuasylum for MAME roms. There are several Bios I need though that I can not get to work on MAMEUI64 0.138u3.
