How do I make AC adapters take up less space?

Post by DarkMage »

See above. I have a fairly good gaming collection and I recently started hooking everything up to my TV. However those damned AC adapters take up too much room! I know what I need to do, I need to get a mini extension cord to help make it end in a normal plug. The question is where do I get these at? I tried a Lowes, Radio Shack and just about any store I have walked into and have gotten nothing. I can't believe for one second that I am the only person who has wanted to do this! Some place sells these things, the question is where? Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks!

Tried wal-mart? I recall seeing something exactly what you were describing not long ago there.

Try Googling 1 foot extension cord.

Also, I know there's a name for these things made just for that purpose, but I just can't remember it now!

Why not just add an inexpensive power strip or two that plugs into the good surge suppressor strip.
Every outlet does not have to be used. Cheaper then that octopus.

The coolest thing would be to make a custom universal power adapter. It would have a single connector to plug into the wall socket, several output wires with connectors that match each console, and then a sliding switch to select which console to power. Of course, each output port would be setup to produce the voltage and amps needed for that particular console. Someday when I have learned more about electrical engineering, maybe I'll work on something like that for myself.

A neat idea but not what I am looking to do. I will run into the same problem, eventually not being able to fit those gargantuan AC adapters. This solution and the other one I saw will work out the best for me I think. Its a good idea and a cheap solution though.

You could also get a 'bench' style power strip.
