I had an idea for the podcast that I wanted to run by everyone to see what you thought. I am toying with the idea of having occasional recurring segments on the show to supplement the main interviews which make up the bulk of the content. These segments could help flesh out shorter shows (e.g. the Phantasy Star episode, the interview with Garnet Hertz, etc.) and wouldn't necessarily occur every show.
I have several ideas in mind for these segments, but I want to keep the focus of the show on interviews/topics that will be just as interesting to listen to a year or three from now as they are currently. In other words I want to stay away from news, reviews, etc. The goal is still an NPR-style show that complements the kind of articles carried on the main site.
Anyway...One idea I quite like is having an occasional 5-10 minute spotlight feature on a forum member. We have a very active, diverse, and genuinely knowledgeable community here and I think the podcast could occasionally highlight this. As you may know, I've already had several active forum members on the show (racketboy, jjgames, bacteria, and nathanbarnatt), but I feel like I am just scratching the surface.
So, what I want from you is the following (or as much as you can provide):
Do you like this idea?
Do you have people in mind that you would like me to invite on the show?
Why do you want me to invite them?
What do you want me to ask them?
Feel free to nominate someone (other than yourself) in this thread or via a PM to me. I'd like to use this thread specifically for that purpose. If you have additional suggestions for guests, segments, etc. - please post them in the "Future Shows" thread.
I hope you are enjoying the shows. We have some interesting things lined up for the rest of the year, so stay tuned!

Yes
I don't know. Probably one of the members living in Japan.
Know what gaming in the states is like, know what gaming in Europe is like, no idea what gaming is REALLY like in Japan.
Is gaming really an ok hobby in Japan. Cause to me it seams they are still considered geeks, but people seam to think that gaming is "cool" in japan.

Wow, this is a great idea that could only bring Racketboy members closer together.
Me...? Honestly, I'd say invite anyone even remotely active, maybe Hobie or Redux, or anyone living/visiting in Japan, as someone else already said. Maybe someone who's had some experience in the industry (ie, indie dev. or VG soundtrack musician)
I'd want to know the same thing about everyone here.
-Who are you/what do you do?
-How did you become involved in video games? (ie, what was your first system/first experience with gaming)
-What games did you enjoy as a child?
-What games do you enjoy now?
-What is your favorite console?
-What is your most prized/collectible/valuable video game related item?
-What is your favorite piece of video game history/trivia?
-What is the most important aspect of video games to you?

How about for starters, "Get to Know the Moderators". You can spotlight them in any order you wish.

Am I the only one who thinks a 5 minute block devoted to Mozgus ranting would be awesome?

I'd have to put my hand up and say Luke or Hobie would be a cool interview to see. For both of them having been here for only about a year they've really become two of our most affluent members.
