SF4 TE stick PC help

Post by Octopod »

I am trying to use my TE stick on my PC but it is not being recognized at all. When I plug it into a USB port nothing happens. I want to use this stick with MAME and other arcade games on my PC. I have the 360 stick, btw. Anyone have any luck with this? I keep reading about them working right out of the box for people so I have no idea what is wrong. And the stick works perfect on my 360.

Both the Regular and Tournament Edition arcade sticks utilize a VIA chipset and require you to either have an Intel motherboard or a VIA manufactured USB 2.0 card/chipset in your PC.

Basically if you have an AMD motherboard you're dead in the water unless you get a PCI USB card with a VIA chipset if your PC doesn't have one.

I have a Dell with a core i7 so I am pretty sure it is an Intel board. I read about other people having trouble but when they plugged it into a USB port it read as unknown device in their device manager. Mine is not showing up at all.

Today has been a very frustrating day for me trying to get MAME up and running and trying to use this joystick.

Did another Google search and it appears that if your PC has any form of NVIDIA chipset as far as I/O and LAN/Networking goes then you're also outta luck.

I'd just go out and buy a cheap VIA chipset USB PCI card for like $5-$10 at Amazon or somewhere.

Drivers are required for the 360 version, (look over on SRK) It's the PS3 version that's plug and play on PC

Make sure you have the 360 drivers installed. You're going to need to use Xpadder or Joy2key to get the stick to be recognised by certain emulators. Winkawaks requires joy2key/xpadder, it just doesn't recognised the inputs at all without it.

Yup, that's your issue. The PS3 just uses the standard usb joystick interface, which is why you can plug and play your Saturn USB controllers on the PS3. Microsoft has their proprietary driver so third parties can't make unauthorized controllers for the 360, and it affects you in the PC world as well.
