I'm looking for someone that can pitch in on a SNES or Genesis/Megadrive shmup guide.
Is anyone up for the task?

Well those would be nice too, but I'm essentially looking for someone that can develop a guide detailing most of the shmup library for one of those two systems.

Hmm, I'm no expert, though I have a decent number of shmups for each and they're what I collect the most. I'd be glad to help contribute if I can.

I'm horribly biased about keeping Lightening Force/Thunder Force IV at the top of any 16-Bit SHMUP list.....
That having been said I don't own/haven't played enough SHMUPS from the era to properly help on this one.

Re: Any SNES or Genesis Shmup Experts?
I've been waiting for something like this, I love shmups especially from the 16 bit era. I am not an expert but I will happily contribute information on the games I do have experience with. What are you looking for? What is the criteria for the write-ups, quick summaries? Screen shots?
Also, why not include the Turbografx/PC Engine and cover all the 16 bit shmups in one swoop? I know its a lot, but the guide would be epic, something similar to the Saturn vs. PSX one already.

I collect Genesis shmups, and have been using this as a guide for some time: http://www.sega-16.com/feature_page.php ... travaganza!
It'd be nice if we could add to it or do something else, but I don't know if we could be more definitive
I'll be happy to help if you want.

Re: Any SNES or Genesis Shmup Experts?
I'm basically looking for a format similar to these:
http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2009/01/ ... brary.html
http://www.racketboy.com/retro/sega/sat ... oters.html
And I can screenshots myself
And yeah, a TG16 one would be good as well. We could do a comparison later on, but I'd like console-specific guides to start.
Even if you can't do every game, any little bit would help -- we could piece together the rest. It can be a longer-term project, if nothing else.
If you're interested in helping out, just email me at racketboy AT gmail DAWT com

Yeah, that is a pretty good one! (I've seen it before)dsheinem wrote:I collect Genesis shmups, and have been using this as a guide for some time: http://www.sega-16.com/feature_page.php ... travaganza!

But I would be nice to have our own take on it as well. And I know it would bug me if we didn't have our own entry on the site.
