Tales of Destiny II (PSX)
I've been playing it for the past few weeks, and am loving it. Everything from the lovely hand-drawn back grounds and sprites to the battle system is really well-done, IMHO. I'm in the middle of disc 2 right now. Anyway, just wanted to share my opinion of the game, and hopefully here your guys' impressions.

Re: Tales of Destiny II (PSX)
I'm glad to see another up-and-coming fan of the Tales series.
Technically, the real name of Destiny 2 is Tales of Eternia; I have been playing the PSP port, and it is quite good. I myself am more partial to the 3D Tales games, but I really like the 2D ones, as well. I would definitely say that it is one of the best Action RPG series out there. I hope you consider trying out more games in the series like Symphonia, Legendia, or Abyss.

Still pissed that Namco of America didn't think it would sell well under the original name (Tales of Eternia) and tried to bank off the original game in name (Tales of Destiny II). In doing so, they robbed themselves of a chance to bring over another Tales game (Tales of Destiny II JAP).
I guess to them, they didn't think it would make sense why ToD1 and ToD3 are sequels, and ToD2:US doesn't fit anywhere in the timeline...

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

There's a lot of reasons to be pissed at the Tales Studio, all of which I have probably elaborated upon greatly at some point or another.avrame wrote:Still pissed that Namco of America didn't think it would sell well under the original name (Tales of Eternia) and tried to bank off the original game in name (Tales of Destiny II). I've played the game off and on for the last six months or so, never getting too far into it. It's an ok game, but man the voice acting gets on my nerves. I'm a huge fan of Tales of Symphonia, tho. I really need to play the rest of the series. (I like the ToS sequel, but didn't like Phantasia too well, or ... that PSP dungeon crawler one, I forget the name.)
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

Re: Tales of Destiny II (PSX)
Nice, guys! I'm glad to see nothing but good impressions about the game, and the series. I'll defintely try to check out the other games when I'm done with ToD2. I'm really enjoying the game. I think the 2D scrolling battle style is awesome! I wonder if the PSP port differs at all from the PSX game.
Question. I'm still not getting how to call forth the Craymels when their levels reach "MAX" during battles. I keep doing it on accident by pressing some button(s). Can someone tell me real quick how to bring them out when this happens? Thanks.

Re: Tales of Destiny II (PSX)
I played the original Tales of Destiny many years back, and I thought it was a good game. It had some unique elements and a pretty decent story and cast of characters.
I'm currently replaying through any games that I haven't beat within the last two years, and I think I'm going to move both of these titles further up my backlog playlist. Thanks for your impressions. They are getting me a little excited to play these games again.
