Radiant Silvergun
I was just wondering is the game actually worth $200? It would seem that it isn't rare, and it even says that it isn't rare on the SS most valuable article on this site. So why is it so expensive? Is it just demand similar to what happened with FFVII? Thanks.

Re: Radiant Silvergun
The reason that it's so expensive is because the demand is so high. Based on supply alone, it should be worth around $20.Hagane Hiryu wrote:I was just wondering is the game actually worth $200? Re: Radiant Silvergun
Depends on what you mean by "worth". You can easily get $200 worth of enjoyment out of Radiant Silvergun. If you were feeding quarters into a machine you'd spend a lot more getting good at it. Of course, if you mean "should I spend $200 on it when there are, um, other ways to get it", I'd say no.

Re: Radiant Silvergun
This may sound silly, but should you ever take a trip to Japan(we've got a few members on here who have), I think you could probably get it for a lot less. Maybe next time a forum member heads over there you can ask them to get you a copy. Just a thought. I'm pretty sure Radiant Silvergun's high price only exists outside of Japan

Re: Radiant Silvergun
From what I understand, the proliferation of ebay shoppers has caused the price of high profile games like Radiant Silvergun to go up even in Japan. Perhaps things have swung back around, however.
It's one of the most unique and epic shooters ever made. It's definitely overrated, as the combo system requires the player to skip a lot of enemies and the leveling system of the weapons rewards players for grinding the bosses, but only overrated because it's rated so damn highly. It's an outstanding game regardless, and probably the only Treasure game I'd really like to see a sequel for. There's so damn much they did right in the game (unmatched and spectacular weapon system, RPG elements, amazing soundtrack, epic bosses), if they just fixed the things they did wrong it would be the best shooter of all time. A combination of Ikaruga (which fixes a lot of RS's errors - simple in theory combo system and bosses that reward fast kills) and Radiant Silvergun would be unbeatable.
Overall, even being overrated, it's definitely worthy of the price tag for those that truly appreciate shooters. You won't find another like it.

Re: Radiant Silvergun
i bought my mint copy for $220 back in the day,
its the best shooter ive ever played, and imo its under-rated.
what the game does with those saturn processors is stunning.

Re: Radiant Silvergun
Wow, what's with all the misconceptions here???
Not a chance. Based on supply alone, I'd say $75 low - $150 high (where it is at $150 low - $250 high in reality). Similar to Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, although DracX is more common than this. It's a game that you can find, but you NEED to look for it.
First of all, Radiant Silvergun IS considered "rare". Although, if you are being strict in your definitions, I'm guessing that technically it is somewhere between "uncommon" and "rare". This is NOT the FFVII syndrome here. It originally didn't sell so well in the first few months of its release, as far as I know. When it got popular, the initial run ran out and there was never a second release (FFVII was released multiple times). So, it really is a fairly rare game. In my four years in Japan, I never once came across this game in the wild aside from behind glass cases in dedicated retro game shops.

Common misconception. The average price I've seen it for in Japan is between $150-200; same as you see it commonly online. I have seen it for 10,000yen ($100) before, but that is with some creasing in the manual and no spine card. It is very rare to see it for that price, at least where I shopped in large cities (never saw the game in countryside shops, although I have come across other rare games in the country) Those would probably go for $150 or more online, and rightfully so.This may sound silly, but should you ever take a trip to Japan(we've got a few members on here who have), I think you could probably get it for a lot less.
