PSX Pro Action Replay Help

Greetings Everyone. Picked up an original Playstation yesterday at a garage sale that came with a "Pro Action Replay" plugged into the back and a bunch of backups.



I know they must have gotten them to work because there are saves for the games on the memory card that came with it. I can't seem to get any of the backups to work though. When I get to the last step, they just spin, with a greyed-out "Start" box on the screen. I'm following the steps I found here:

What am I missing? I've tried a couple different original disks. Is there one that is known for working? Are the steps on the linked web site incorrect?

That particular "Action Replay" may not have a mod chip in the cart. Do Originals work with the Action Replay codes?

Try with switch in other position. Also the Circle button is usually the default not the normal "X" button.

you need to hold the lid sensor down with tape or a spring then start the PS1 with a legit game in it. then when the disk stops spinning put the backup in and start the game. none of those "plug mod/PAR" carts have actual modchips in them. they only make the swap trick easier

Thanks for the link pepharytheworm. Worked for me. I think there were also some bad burns included in the lot that threw me off.
