I just noticed that there's a new WIP release of Mednafen 0.9.0. Still just a WIP, but it adds Genesis, SNES, and Virtualboy support to Mednafen. Mednafen is my favorite emulator for every system it supports, so I'm excited about this. Kega Fusion and bsnes are great, but it's nice to have a one stop shop for every console.
VirtualBoy emulation is a big deal too. VB emulation has been kind of dead in the water for a while, and I don't think there was ever a good one for Linux. Apparently the new VB emulation works really well already, so I'm going to have to find some cheap anaglyph glasses and play some tennis.
I really love this emulator. Give it a shot if you haven't. It's leaps and bounds above MESS for sure. I wonder what open source emulator core they will incorporate next. PCSX? Stella?
In other UNIX emulation news, there's a new port of WinUAE to UNIX. E-UAE has lagged behind for a while, so WinUAE in Wine was the best we could do. Now we have PUAE. I gather it's still a little buggy, but good things are happening. Yay!
