PS3 cooler noise recommendation

Post by d123456 »

Sup fellas, look, not anal or anything.
Thing is, the ps3 gets too loud after a period of time.
Is there a way with an external cooler to prevent or delay it at least from going into fan overdrive, you know what I'm talking about. I googled a bit, saw some forum posts about it.
But maybe someone here has experience. Highly appreciated. I some some Japanese Hori stands and other Japanese cooler products, are they any good?
Thanks

Nope. Just keep it clean and clear the fan intakes.

if the fans are really making enough noise to be a problem, your PS3 most likely needs a serious cleaning.

PS3's shouldn't get too loud.

Cleaning? whadaymean?
OK, I just cleaned it's a$$ off with a vacuum cleaner. We'll see.
Anyway, it only really becomes a problem when watching a blu ray or dvd for that matter.
Quite scenes: WHUUUUUUUUUUUUU. (from ps3)
Which is the fan going into overdrive when the unit gets too hot. Perhaps there is no way to cool it enough to prevent this.
And I have a very old HK Ps3 60GB, which isn't loud at all ...untill yep it goes into overdrive!
blu rays offcrouse really tax the system. constant reading, constant processing.
And my machine is not confines or anything

Yep. That's 60GB PS3s for you. My 60GB is exactly the same.

Buy a Bluray player.

Agree why risk your limited run time investment on movies.

Mine gets loud as hell, too. It's not just when watching Blu-Rays, either. It does it on games during longer play sessions.

I also have the 60 GB console. I need to look into a stand alone BR player to protect my investment.

Quick question, all of the ps3's you've had replaced since your first YLOD, they've all been refurbished models straight from Sony, correct?

Yes and lucky (or unlucky) fails have occurred under 90 days, same Emotion Chip 60gb warranty replacement. No additional cost, if the 90 day mark hits then stuck forking cash to upgrade to a slim.
