So as I've mentioned from time to time, I'm currently teaching English in South Korea. Occasionally I'll start the class with a video clip of some sort if I can properly relate it to the material. Anyways, next week I am teaching an open class (other teachers will be sitting in on the class to watch) and I'd like to use a bit of multi-media in my lesson.
The lesson that I will be teaching is about shopping, but more specifically complaining about a purchased item. The students will practice a couple of different conversation structures, but in each one they identify an item and the problem that that item has. Afterwards they will request a refund, an exchange, or some solution to the problem.
I'm looking for a funny video that may shows a defective product or some problem. My thoughts were like if there were a video of someone excitedly opening a Playstation box, just to find out that the box was empty. The item would be the Playstation and the problem would be that there is no Playstation.
But of course thats too specific. It could be a bicycle collapsing while someone is riding it, a video of something breaking, a video of someone in a shirt that is too small.
Any sort of reason that they could then find a problem with a reason to return it (even if its ridiculous) is fine. I'm just looking for something funny. Cartoons are good, but show me what you've got. Memes accepted haha.

Well, the first thing I thought of when reading this was the good old Dead Parrot Sketch from Monty Python. Is that suitable?

Damn I keep glazing over people's posts.
Parrot sketch does sound perfect.

I second that!Ducky wrote:Well, the first thing I thought of when reading this was the good old Dead Parrot Sketch from Monty Python. Is that suitable?

Since you are teaching English, the subtle differences in pronunciation is great in this:
Two Ronnies, Fork Handles
Bonus! It's in a shop, and about complaining about a purchase. Win-win!

Thats a brilliant sketch. I always hated the 2 Ronnies when I was little, just didnt get what was funny about them at all but now I realise that Ronnie Barker was a master wordsmith. That would be a good clip to show that as well

Re: Help Finding a Video
I haven't checked the Ronnie Barker one yet, but the parrot sketch actually seems perfect. The language may be a little harder for them to understand (British accents) but the dialog actually pretty closely matches some of what is in the textbook. Using the word complaint a lot and repeating the problem over and over. The humor is also very physical.
I'll definitely remember the Katana video to use for something in the future, they'd love it. I might show both just because the Katana one is so short.
Anyways I'll post again after the Ronnie video, time for class.
