Dell Inspiron 700m TV-Out Problem
Dell Inspiron 700m TV-Out Problem
I just figured out that I have all the necessary cables to use the TV-Out of my laptop. I got it all set up, but there was one problem. The picture only shows up in black and white. I have no idea how to fix this. Does anyone have any suggestions? I could really use a helping hand ;_;

Maybe wrong or bad cable? S-Video or composite?
What is the entire model number of your Dell?
EDIT
Does your TV have VGA in, thats the one to use.

Are you using an S-Video to composite adapter? If so that's your answer.

My TV does not have VGA In
The model is Dell Inspiron 700m PP07S
I'm using the S-Video part of this cable.

Did that cable actually come with the laptop? If not it might fit, but not be correct. S-video is luma (brightness) and chroma (color) instead of them squashed together like composite. Sounds like you're only getting the luma.

The able came with my old computer. You're absolutely right. While looking at some of the settings, luma was there, but chroma wasn't applicable. What cable to you recommend then?Hobie-wan wrote:Did that cable actually come with the laptop? If not it might fit, but not be correct. You'll probably have to find a cable that came from a Dell of about the same year. Or maybe you can find a pinout of the Dell and somewhere that has one of the cable. I have a similiar cable that came with one of my video cards too. Finding the Dell piece will probably be more straight forward though.

Okay I found what I think is your manual, right click save that PDF!Reverend wrote:I think this is should work.

According to the manual, you have a 15 pin video connector for VGA on the left as well as a standard S-Video hookup on the right side. All you need is a regular S-Video Cable.
EDIT
If that connector on the right side is not a four pin, there is a chance you might need that E-Bay adaptor.
Give it a shot anyways with a good standard S-Video cable. Be careful of the pins lining up!

The standard S-Video cable fit, but was still in black and white.
The cable from e-bay is in the mail. Hopefully it works.
