I thought you could do it from the memory card manager, no? When you start a game up (that uses a memory card) hold start down. There's no option to format? Maybe if you just delete all the corrupt files you'll be able to use it?

Just curious, it isn't a Nintendo brand card, is it?

But anyway, a GameShark will format a memory card for you.

No its a 3rd party, but has no label.

I really need to get a Nintendo Brand card, or a card that can be backed on the computer.

Well the reason why I asked if it was first or third party is because the third party cards always seem to get corrupt. Not just for the 64, mostly every system. Third party cards always seem to get messed up. I would just stay away from them. My first party N64 card NEVER got corrupt, same goes for my first party PS1, PS2, GameCube, Dreamcast, Saturn, etc.

So, I suggest you get yourself a first party N64 memory card. As long as you treat it right, I doubt it'll ever give you a problem like corrupt saves.

edit: They're about $8 shipped (used) on Amazon...

I edited my above post to a link of Nintendo brand N64 memory cards. I also found this...

...for cheaper than I expected it to be. You can use that to transfer saves to your PC, if you wish. Even the ones that claim to be brand new are very cheap. So cheap that I'm considering getting one.

the Dex Drives, I so need one of those.

Wait, will Dex Drives work with Windows 7?

Probably not. But what I read was interesting. I heard the original software "DexPlorer" will only work with 2K and previous versions of Windows (so XP, Vista and 7 are out) but if you have 7 than I wouldn't worry much. Just use Microsoft's Virtual PC to install Windows 2K Pro and you'll be all set.

But I also read that there were unofficial software to use with the DexDrive, so try searching for those. Maybe one of them will work on XP or 7. I read that the unofficial software might be better than the official software anyways.

Also know what kind of connection it uses. I think it uses a serial com port, which most newer computers wont have. If you have a computer that came with 7, you probably don't have one. You could either use an older computer, or get a PCI card to add a serial port to your PC. Something like this...
