I got this from price angels while ordering some other stuff. I thought it would be cool to have for 3 bucks. Well I got it, so now I need to know what people are using them for.
Anyone out there use one or know of many uses? (other than the obvious)

Unfortunately won't replace existing GC memory
Great for SDBoot-SDLoad to load homebrews on SD 2gb memory cards.

I've used it with SDLoad to run the SNES emulator. emu_kidid is working on the next revision of SDBoot that is supposed to offer a lot more capabilities. See his blog for details.

Can someone enlighten me please? So with this thing I should be able to play homebrew on my Gamecube without any modification? Can it play ripped GC games from an SD card? I still need some GC disc with the correct software (Action Replay) to get it to work, right?
Mostly harmless

If you want to play off the SD card without modification, you need the SD Media Launcher disc. Some games can be played off the SD card with SD Boot but it's a work-in-progress.Hateshinai wrote:Can someone enlighten me please? Otherwise, you need some sort of mod chip (Viper, XenoGC, etc) or the Phantasy Star Online/BBA trick (not recommended).
If you have an edition of Action Replay that allows you to enter code, then yes, you can use that to run stuff of the SD card.

Pandora's Box open, no Mod Chip needed.
Newest Action Replay has undocumented SD Media Launcher built in.
The better Older Code Entry Action Replay is used in conjunction with SDLoad.
