Scratched CD help

I got some scratched games from slight to really screwed up, what is the best way to repair them? The only thing I remember ever using was skip doctor, it got the job done, but I guess there is something much better out there. Any experience?

Can you "see through" both sides of the scratched area? From one side to the other of the CD. If so...your disc is finished. Otherwise there should be hope using cleaner or whatever.

This is important to check for... if the LABEL side is scratched through to the plastic you are screwed and won't be getting your great little disk to work again. This is why if I can't find a case for my disk I would rather place it readable side down over label side!

peanut butter works too. o.o i thought my brother was messing with me but i tried it on my copy of fighter's megamix that would hang after the sega logo and it worked

I had a scratched copy of Crazy Taxi for the Dreamcast, and I tried the old trick with throwing the disc 10 minutes in the freezer, that helped.

Got some cheap DC games and demos, really scratched, tried the toothpaste trick and didn't work, are those automatic polishers that amazon has any good?? I really want to check out the 4 DC magazine demos, the games are Soul Calibur and Expendable

If they are too scratched, they might be beyond hope.
Some of the polishers try filling in the scratches with some liquid stuff.
Others basically sand it down (obviously you can only sand it down so much)

Haven't tried them personally, but I've heard mixed results.
