phantasy star online for DC - anyone play online?

does or has anyone played this on the homebrew servers? i've found some mixed information by searching on the net, and i think i would either need a PAL version of the game or a codebreaker cheat disc to get online. can anyone confirm this or tell me other ways of playing it online?

yea I've played it online recently using the codebreaker disc. But if you don't have codebreaker, you can just download it from a dreamcast community. The server works great, you wouldn't even know that it wasn't official. And they even add-in all the holiday stuff the official servers had (christmas trees at christmas, new years theme etc...)
And you could also play with people from the gamecube and pc versions that are also playing on the same servers. I just use the PC version nowadays because it has no loading times. But you really need a usb controller to enjoy the pc version at all. The keyboard doesn't cut it.

I used to play the PC version online on the homebrew servers, easier to setup. Although alot of people are using trainers/editors.

lol. well you can't help that. people did that when the game was strictly DC. But it is nice to play alongside others like the game was meant to be played. Plus, theres always a slew of people playing legit. Just have to look for them.

i always wanted to play pso online (hell, online is IN the name!) but i came too late and i didn't have a copy that could go online (if ya know what i mean!) so when i get back to the states i would definitely love to play online, as new copies can be bought on ebay for really cheap these days. so i guess i would just have to use the codebreaker disc with my u.s. version of the game along with a internet connection and i can play online, is that right?

I've only got a dialup modem in my DC. I don't wanna have to pay per minute, not when i have Broadband! How can i get around it? Is there anywhere that still sell the broadband adaptors. I've tried loads of times to get one from ebay but i there's never any listed at all.

yeah i've seen them always go for clear over $100. The broadband modem is very rare so you'll probably never get one. Look up something called "juno dunning". It's the trick I used to get a free juno dial-up account to use for my dreamcast. Still works great.
