Booting problems on an mod-chip Hitachi Hi-Saturn

Post by Arzak1 »

Hello everyone, i'm Arzak and i'm from Italy, nice to meet you.
I'm sorry to bother but i have a bad problem with my pre-chipped Hitachi Hi-Saturn (Multimedia Player MMP-1)
I've bought it from Spain about 1 year ago. When it arrived it was injured from transport and couldn't read cds. I fixed the problem rising up a little the cd allocation (i don't know how to describe it properly). Then it worked. I used it for 4 months, then i put it on a shelf. 3 months ago i tried it again but it didn't work at all.
I have problems with the original discs. If i try to boot the sistem it only recognizes them as audio cds. So i have opened the saturn removing the shell and booted an original cd and it works. When i put back the front on the console, it still recognizes it as an audio cd. The cdr (burned games) also don't work at all. The modchip seems similar to the one installed on model 2, but there is only a red cable solded.
Thanks in advance

Maybe the ribbon cable or the chip are being pushed a little when the case is on and they are making bad contact. Try unplugging them and cleaning the connections.

Maybe also check the laser, lens needs cleaning. Since all your games don't work then unlikely scratched disc issue. Still, it wouldn't hurt to polish the game discs as well.

hi team , to clean the contacts use a Pencil Rubber and after that rub a little Isopropyl
Alcohol on the Pins.

To clean the Laser Eye also use Isopropyl Alcohol , check Youtube Videos on how to clean Lasers.
