Hello!

Post by NintenBroke »

Have lurked around for a little while and finally registered! Wanted to say Hi, so Hi. My brother and I got a NES back in 1987 and played the crap out of it. Spring got so weak in the cartridge slot that we had to place a butter knife on top of the cartridges in just the right spot and wiggle and blow the cart just to get them to play lol, but we spent alot of good times on that thing, also got and still have the original gameboy. We got an SNES and played it quite a bit also but got older and he went off to college and we never got to play as much as we did with the NES. He still has our SNES and our games. I have owned different consoles over the years but kinda got out of video games for a decade or so due to work and family, but did get a PS1 when the PS2 came out, then got a PS2 after the price had dropped drastically on them. Picked up a GBA SP a few months ago when I found out they would play all the Gameboy titles, I had completly missed the GB color and the GBA SP was out of production by the time I got mine but I love that thing. I am currently building a library of games for it. I got what I think is a great deal on a Gamecube today. It came with 2 working Wavebird controllers, all cables and 4 games in the cases with instruction manuals. Also the original owners manual to the Gamecube and 1 memory card. The games are Madden 2004, Nascar Chase for the Cup 2005, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 and the Players Choice Pac-Man VS/Pac-Man World 2 game. I payed $40 for all of this. I found the game listed in local Classified paper, called the guy and he brought it by on his way home from work. The Gamecube looks like it just came out of the box and the games look as if they just came from the store. Not even any dust on the Gamecube or games. I really wanted to ask about the original pack-in game and controllers but didn't want to screw up the deal. I hooked the thing up and everything works great. Had never played a Gamecube before but I am impressed. Just found out today about the GameBoy player for it which will open up a whole new library of games for it and I am looking around for one of those now. Anyway glad to be back to my gaming roots and looking forward to talking with you guys and or gals.

Hey chief. Welcome aboard.

A couple of quick notes: 1. We have a welcome thread in the "Whatever" section.

2. If you repost, could you perhaps break the block of text into shorter paragraphs?

And onto the meat of your conversation, since we are in the Nintendo subforum: You're right, the Gamecube is a great little console, one that I used to foolishly bash back in my days of Sony Fanboyishness. There are many great titles for it, and we'd be happy to discuss some of the greats with you, though you will have to tell us what types of games you like.

As for the NES and SNES, trust me, we've got lots of guys who love them both, so if you want to know something, look through the site guides and ask away. And as always, feel free to jump into a topic!

Ok sorry, didn't know about the welcome thread and I will keep it shorter next time or break it up into more manageable bites :D I started remembering the good ol' days and got to rambling. Thanks

HELLO TO YOU TOO!

Playing Nintendo games with my brother and dad are pretty fond memories for me as well, thanks for sharing.

Anyway, GameCube is amazing and has quite a library of original and entertaining titles.
And if you end up getting one, you will learn to love the GameBoy Player (which is capable of playing almost every gameboy cart. ever made, from GB to GBA) in the same way you loved your original brick GameBoy.

It's the main reason I keep my GameCube plugged in.

Also, Killer 7.

Welcome! Clever name.

That was an excellent deal you got on the GC bundle. It's one of my favorite systems. I bought ours at release in 01 with Luigi's Mansion and I still think that's one of the best (and under appreciated) games on the system, so give that a try if you haven't already.

Welcome to Racketboy! Trust me, you won't find a better group of people to wax nostalgic with.

And good call getting back into classic Nintendo. There's something about old school Nintendo games that really speaks to a lot of us. It's like gaming had a soul back then.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Shoot, I'll plug his blog too. Noiseredux is practically our master of all things Game Boy here. He knows what he's talking about.
