What is your favorite version of Street Fighter?

Out of all the versions of Alpha,1,2,3,4,and EX

What is your all time favorite?

Don't forget to post which specific version you liked in the comments. There's just to many versions to do all individually.

I picked 3rd strike. I recently picked up a copy of double impact and one of my favorite characters in the game is so gimped in 3rd strike that I hate to play him but he's so good in new generation. That it might sway my decision after some more play time.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 was always my favorite Street Fighter in the series. It just felt like Capcom nailed everyting: characters, gameplay mechanics, controls, music, graphics, it all feels so crisp. And while I realize the Saturn version feels the closest to the arcade(at least to me), I'm still impressed that they managed to get it onto a SNES cart.

I picked II. I've owned so many copies of II... a couple for SNES, the GB port, the GBA port, and so on. It's pretty much the game that I hold all other 2D fighters up against.

Street Fighter 2, without a doubt. The cast was focused but still had a lot of variety. And the fighting system was nice a simple. Attack, block, throw.

I said III. I really liked the feel of this game, The character design and animation were all fresh, fluid, and perhaps most importantly unique and original. The game had strong mechanics and was an absolute joy to play, what little of it I got to.

agreed... I feel like maybe people avoid admitting this, because they think it's a cliche. But seriously SFII is such a perfect game.

You nailed it. I'll be honest most of the characters from street fighter 2 I hated aside from Ryu, Ken, Akuma and Chun li. I thought that a Character like dhalsim never fit the build. I know there all clones of characters from 2 but necro felt so much more logical then dhalsim did. I could go on but I think you get the point.

Never had been impressed with any fighting games before Alpha 2.
