Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Post by Gooseberrysoda »

I'm gonna be visiting, I want to go to at least one game store while I'm there.

Also, is "NintendoWorld" worth visiting?

Envy you, its right at the NBC Rockefeller Center, if you are a Nintendo OCD, pop in there. I was in New York for just a day and saw it from a yellow cab. Not sure about Retro Game Stores wish I would have had time, was with wife. Toys r Us is a trip, a carnival atmosphere. We did try the pizzerias (The one in Macys with wooden escalator is pretty good) and Nathan's Hotdogs. East Coast Pizza is the best, nothing close here in Southern CA. I think we do have the best Mexican food though.

Nintendo World is pretty cool because of stuff like in the pictures I have attached. The thing about Retro Video Games in NYC though is that everyone knows their true value, so the prices are high. The only place you can pick up retro game at an affordable price is to go to thrift stores regularly.
But if you want to see an awesome selection (with high prices mind you) than check out Video Games New York: http://www.videogamesnewyork.com/index. ... 4a8a543904. Its great to look around at all the rare stuff and laugh at how much they want for it.

Very true. While they have a nice selection, their prices do tend to be laughably high. Their pricing policy seems to be: (1) find the ebay price; (2) multiply that by a number from 2 to 5. They now have a pet cat in the store too. Don't know if that's a plus or a minus for you.

There's also a Play N' Trade somewhere on East 13th. Prices are better than VGNY, but it's still kind of overpriced and their retro selection is weaker.

I lived in NYC for the summer of 07. I had got laid off and I took my severance pay and staid out there for the whole summer. Video Games New York is interesting enough to visit because it has a museum kind of vibe. But items are pricey. I was only in NY for a bit so thats the only place I know but Im sure theres other places worth checking out. Whatever you do don't eat the Mexican food. It's the worse excuse for Mexican I have ever come across.
