That will only work with the PSP GO. With this, I can play emulators to my hearts content on an HDTV. (My XRGB-3 has a dedicated PSP scaling mode)

Looks like a lot of work. Just get an Xbox, softmod and play much faster emulators on that instead. There's lots of PS2-Xbox converters if that's your preference.

A interesting mod project, for one that enjoys the challenge. For EMU's, easier to use home console with greater speed and graphics. Dreamcast or as Niode pointed out XBox have a wide variety including NES, Genesis, Gameboy, C64, SNES, MAME etc.

Another option I would have gone if my HD CRT had VGA is the Apple Mini. A compact cube to place inside the TV wall unit, hooked up with a wireless keyboard with touch pad.

There is a DVI out, maybe simple conversion, hmmm. Ultimate EMU setup!

Apple mini's are very expensive for what they are. You would be better off getting one of those Micro-ITX style HTPCs. There was a thread regarding building one on the cheap in this forum somewhere. I think it was started by Racketboy.

Just like the very compact size. Maybe older used one.
