According to the first few reviews, Iron Man 2 is lame

I hope they're just wrong, I want something to see in the theater. And I would hate to see a good movie be turned into a lame series, ala Pirates of the Carribean.

They aren't going to fuck this up. This plan spans over almost a decade. Joss Whedon and the guy who directed THE ROCKETEER are co-directing CAPTAIN AMERICA. THOR is in the works. This, with a few other twists, will ultimately lead to THE AVENGERS movie.

They're taking every step to make sure the franchise is a success.

I firmly believe the Avengers will be awesome based solely on the fact that Joss Whedon is directing. He showed his directing chops in Serenity, which was excellent. And he's been involved in scrip writing and script doctoring for other movies, so he has experience

He's also made a name for himself in the comic book world writing for the X-Men and is well known as a huge comic book geek

That's not an automatic kiss of death, though. The Dark Knight pulled it off, and we all know how well it turned out.

Planning in advance doesn't mean it will be good. Star Wars was planned out, but episodes 1-3 weren't too good.

We were talking about the movie. No one I know expects the game to be good. It will probably be horrid, like movie games almost always are. And they could do much worse. Just look up the Charlie's Angels game for Gamecube.
