Ok, I have posted something like this before but I want to go at it from another angle. I have a DSTT at this time. Regardless of the menu I have tried I cannot get games such as Mario and Luigi Bowsers inside story to work correctly.
My question is, is there a card out there with a current menu etc, that will natively load these newer games? Info is conflicting as usual but I feel confident in the testimony of the members here. My big issue is that I want to avoid patching, hacking or other sorts of "work" to get them to load.
NOTE: to those that will say to just buy the game, I do buy them if after playing they are worth it. I have been burned way to many time in buying crap games based on screenshot or someone else's review. There is way too much DS shitware. When I finally post my game room you will most definitely see that I BUY GAMES!!!!

You can buy this one without testing it. Trust me.
As for cards, no one is working 100% with no work. Specially avoid R4's since they stopped updating firmware a long time ago.

Did you patch the Bowser game? Search for anti piracy mario luigi bowser inside story patch".
Another option is to search for Wood R.P.G 1.04 firmware for R4.

bitgamer wrote: I present: Wood R.P.G. 1.04, a new custom firmware for R4.
Yellow Wood Goblin has just released to me his brand new firmware, Wood R4 v1.04. This firmware is a replacement for the R4 1.18 firmware and only supports the Original R4 Flash Linkers. This Firmware is not for R4 clones, use of it on clones may result in unforeseen problems. When asked why support the R4, his response was "why not?"! The code is based in part on advancements made during the last public release of Wood R.P.G., users can expect the same coding quality, the same compatibility, basic wii-connectivity, and future updates.
Setup:
Place the _rpg directory and the _DS_MENU.DAT into the ROOT of your microSD card.
Compatibility:
Everything that works on Wood R.P.G. should work on Wood R4. Wood R.P.G. has 99.8% compatibility. I won't say it is 100% because there could be the occasional glitch or bug. All future Anti-Piracy ROMs are not supported but could possibly be fixed on a 1:1 basis.
Support:
There is confirmation that this is working on the Original R4, the R4 SD clones, and the M3 Simply.
Skins:
This is a port of Wood R.P.G. so this will use the same skins used on the R.P.G. as the GUI has not changed.
Saves:
Wood R4 supports RAW format save files named ROM-NAME.nds.sav. You will need to rename your save files in order to make use of them.
Why use this over YSMENU?
This is a full firmware replacement. Expect all of the features of a modern firmware. Including Wii-connectivity, Cheats, Themes, Short-cuts, etc. Everything Wood R.P.G. does on the Acekard R.P.G. this firmware does on the R4 (except for on the fly A.P. patching for yet to be released ROMs). This firmware will continue to be updated, tweaked, fixed, optimized, etc. It is time to say goodbye to YASU's YSMENU by giving your R4 Wood!
Uploader Description:
Got this off of GBAtemp before it went down. Could it being down be due to the release of this firmware? Decided to put it up here before anything happened to it. This is a godsend for any R4 user, no more having to deal with lack of support when playing new games, the R4 has been brought back to life! This plays the latest games like Pokemon SS/HG, Warioware D.I.Y., Platinum, Sonic, Strange Journey, CLEAN! No patches, no extra files, drag and drop, run! Who says the R4 is dead? R for Revenge I suppose..

Re: R4, DSTT or other???
Hey man, from what I know, Bowser's inside story cannot be played without patching of any sorts. It's one of the few DS games with a anti-piracy protection that works. Honestly, I'm surprised that more games haven't used this protection, seeing that it game pirates a long run for their money.
As for other cards, I believe Acekard has a workaround to get an unpatched game working. And of the arguement that you've been burned by shovelware in the past, I understand that felling, but I mean, it's Mario RPG style of game, when have you been burned by that
Each Mario & Luigi game is better than the last.

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
Re: R4, DSTT or other???
This brings me to another question. Are most of the current games (games since mario and luigi) using same lock out method? Or are there just a few?
I dont like the touchpad aspect of the DS. Games that dont heavily rely on it are fine, but some games force you into it constantly. So, yeah, I may not like this new Mario game. I know it is horrinle to say but I am not to big with learning all new control methods. (Wii) Remotes, touchpads etc, just not for me. My wife got the latest DS Zelda game, (forgot name) I tried it and I HATE the controls. She loves it though as she likes the touchpad. Just different taste I guess.

Re: R4, DSTT or other???
Acekard 2 is so far the best card as far as 'out-of-box' compatibility goes, it can apparently play the new Pokemon games with a hex workaround. Bowser's requires a patch no matter what card you run it on (AFAIK, I haven't heard otherwise).
For the meantime you might want to try putting YSmenu on your DSTT. It's pretty straight forward. You have to compile it yourself since Yasu simply won't put a precompiled version on his website.

The guide is slightly out of date but it still applies for the latest version.

Re: R4, DSTT or other???
I am playing Bowser's Inside Story on my DSTT using version 1.17a12 of the menu. I think I am using an unpatched ROM but I really can't remember.
Mostly harmless
